They wish they had SteekUP
March 23, 2007
I’ve stumbled upon this story about a computer technician reformatting a hard drive and accidentally wiping out an account worth $38 billion. With a B! Then he or she went on and wiped our the backup drive. Like that. When they acknowledged the blunder, they tried to recover the data from backup tapes, only to discover …they were unusable. The rest of this fascinating story is on CNN.
In short, it costed them:
- data recovery computer consultants: $71,800
- 70 people working 7/7 for weeks to recover someone’s blunder: $128,400 in overtime
- having your trigger-happy story on CNN and alloverthe internet: priceless, or almost $38 billion with a B.
Put’s the SteekUP online, remote, secured backup for FREE to 200€ in a whole new light, doesn’t it
