Steek announce BigSister, the generic digital life storage.
April 1, 2009
Steek BigSister is a system that is about to be deployed to aggregate and record all your digital life.
“We strongly believe that BigBrother time has come: our life is fully digital now and everything needs to be aggregate and stored.”, explained Christophe Camborde, CEO of Steek,”Everyday, you take the metro and your metro trip is logged. You take your car and your GPS logs your travel, you use itunes and itunes records your MP3 playlist, you send or receive SMS and so on.”
Steek BigSister will be connected to the major digital information providers like transportation or metro system, ISP, Mobile operators, insurance systems, banks, etc…
“We think we can compete with Google! Google already store and gather all these informations, we, Steek, can provide a better organized and explicit system for the well being of everybody.” also added Chrstophe Camborde.
System will be first deployed in France and then Europe. Autorisation by the CNIL (independent French administrative authority whose mission is to ensure that data privacy law is applied to the collection, storage, and use of personal data) is currently under consideration. Steek also has opened a complaint to the European Commission in order to stop data removal. “Data removal is a major loss for everybody”, added Christophe Camborde “this is our life, may be even more important that our real life, we cannot accept that digital stuffs are deleted. Especially as we are ready to store everything!“.
Soon to come, an IPO will cover the financing of this major storage operation on the Paris Stock Exchange, HKSE in summer 2009 for a value exceding €500M.
