Steek Mobile Share : sneak peek
May 29, 2009
While most of our work at Steek is still under the radar, I wanted to show you a sneak peek of something we have been working on for a few weeks : the “Steek Mobile Share” on Blackberry.
The whole idea about Steek Mobile is to let you benefit from the online storage capacity in a very simple and natural way. On a mobile this translates in :
- Take a picture
- Press Menu -> Send to Steek
- Go back to your usual stuff, the app will upload the picture in background
- Get notified about your picture having been uploaded and click share to open an email with the permalink to the picture embedded
It’s as simple as that – your personal pictures are sent seamlessly on your personal secured online space and you can share them with whomever you want in a safe way.

Steek is proud to power TerraGiga (http://www.terra.es/giga/), the online storage service with Terra, the Internet portal of Telefonica in Spain!
The 5GB offer is visible directly from the home:

Terra blogs the service and the features: http://giga.blogs.terra.es/
The TerraGiga launch has been noticed by the major spanish blogs:

Also especially noticeable, Terra has asked the users to interact with the evolution of the service by providing them with a forum to tell us whatever they think of TerraGiga. The url for the forum is:
Steek announce BigSister, the generic digital life storage.
April 1, 2009
Steek BigSister is a system that is about to be deployed to aggregate and record all your digital life.
“We strongly believe that BigBrother time has come: our life is fully digital now and everything needs to be aggregate and stored.”, explained Christophe Camborde, CEO of Steek,”Everyday, you take the metro and your metro trip is logged. You take your car and your GPS logs your travel, you use itunes and itunes records your MP3 playlist, you send or receive SMS and so on.”
Steek BigSister will be connected to the major digital information providers like transportation or metro system, ISP, Mobile operators, insurance systems, banks, etc…
“We think we can compete with Google! Google already store and gather all these informations, we, Steek, can provide a better organized and explicit system for the well being of everybody.” also added Chrstophe Camborde.
System will be first deployed in France and then Europe. Autorisation by the CNIL (independent French administrative authority whose mission is to ensure that data privacy law is applied to the collection, storage, and use of personal data) is currently under consideration. Steek also has opened a complaint to the European Commission in order to stop data removal. “Data removal is a major loss for everybody”, added Christophe Camborde “this is our life, may be even more important that our real life, we cannot accept that digital stuffs are deleted. Especially as we are ready to store everything!“.
Soon to come, an IPO will cover the financing of this major storage operation on the Paris Stock Exchange, HKSE in summer 2009 for a value exceding €500M.
What 7 years?
March 5, 2009
Steek was born on March 5, 2002 just 7 years ago. I was not there at this time, neither the main part of the company!… I think also that the flats of Yannick or Arnaud were not big enough
Seems that we are already entering into the adult age as Steek is now worldwide leader for whitelabel consumer storage!
New! Steek Workgroup Beta has opened!

LeWeb ‘08 Love
December 16, 2008
Steek had a partner booth at LeWeb’08. There are a few obvious benefits to important events like this:
- Putting a face on some of the customer names.
- Meet interesting people: prospects, potential customers, internet “rock stars”, the press; the possibilities are quite exciting.
- Learn more about the “confreres”. We love our confreres, especially when we outshine them
- The conferences themselves are great, of course. This year’s program was again very good.
However, what makes LeWeb priceless is the demos and live feedback on our products. As a product manager at Steek, I spend way too much time designing, specifying and overviewing the development of our products. After a couple of years, one gets used to the features and takes their benefits for granted. Sure, there’s the occasional reality check with user tests and customer meetings, but nothing is worth the two day marathon of concentrated interaction, with answers straight from the horse’s mouth.
This was it was awesome: our product lineup kicks ass. Every demo was a success, despite the wifi issues at the venue. People are all over Steek Backup (fka SteekUP), Steek Share (fka SteekR) and the upcoming Steek Workgroup. The feedback was beyond positive, enthusiastic is the right word.
The world loves Steek. Stay tuned for some exciting news.
